Other Education Opportunities

E-learning is available right now!

PSAC is thrilled to offer members a new way of accessing our education program. In response to the global pandemic, PSAC suspended in-person courses and we focused instead on building a high-quality, user-friendly online education program that can be accessed from any home computer or mobile device.

Online education extends the reach of our education program to members whose location or life circumstances make attending in-person sessions difficult. From our PSAC national website, our Online Education Program will offer online self-paced courses available at your convenience. Two courses are currently available: Welcome to Your Union. the PSAC, and Precarious Work - A Union Issue.

The Joint Learning Program (JLP) for members at Treasury Board

The Joint Learning Program (JLP) is a partnership between the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. The pilot, which was negotiated in 2001, marked the first time a bargaining agent and the employer agreed through contract negotiations to jointly deliver learning activities to enhance labour-management relations in the public service.

The objectives of the JLP are to improve labour relations and increase the understanding of the roles of the union and management in the workplace. The JLP achieves its objectives by providing workshops in areas of mutual interest for which the employer does not already have a legal obligation to provide training and where both union and management have specific roles and responsibilities.

Contact the person in charge of the JLP for the National Capital Region to find out how to request a workshop or to become a JLP Facilitator.

Union Education with the Ottawa District Labour Council and the FTQ-Outaouais

PSAC members can also attend courses offered in the region by the Ottawa and District Labour Council or the Conseil régional Outaouais of the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec (FTQ). Check their respective websites for details on courses and registration.

Members of Locals who are affiliated to these labour councils benefit from reduced course fees, however all members can apply.
