The World Social Forum is taking place from August 9 through 14 in Montréal. This is the first time that the World forum takes place in North America. Thousands are expected to attend the 1,200 workshops offered on UQAM, McGill, and CÉGEP du Vieux-Montréal campuses and outdoor sites.
The World Social Forum in an important gathering of socially progressive forces. The Forum aims to reunite different groups in order to build new solidarities against austerity measures and neoliberal policies all over the world. The activities, which will be held from August 10 to 12, are self-managed by organizations or co-operatives. Self-managed activities can take many forms: round tables, conferences, debates on controversial topics, discussion workshops, artistic performances, cultural activities or convergence assemblies.
The PSAC-NCR is offering seven (7) bursaries in the amount of $1,000 each to encourage NCR members who wish to attend the WSF to participate.
