What are your current role(s) in the union? Where do you work/what do you do?
I am currently the president of Local 70080 and work at the National Capital Commission.
When did you first get involved in the union?
I wanted to get involved in the local for some time and about 4 years ago the position of Vice-President became available so I decided to run.
What was the most important achievement you’ve been a part of? Or goals you’d like to meet?
I have fought to improve working conditions and defending members’ rights by maintaining a relationship based on mutual trust with our employer. I also use informal conflict resolution mechanisms to successfully address the concerns of our members.
What would you say to others who are thinking about getting involved?
Being involved in our local has allowed me to participate in important conversations and influence organizational change that affects our workplace. I encourage anyone who wants to have the opportunity to improve the working conditions of their friends and colleagues to get involved.
