Regrets: Brother Edward Martin had to leave early to attend a meeting at Odawa.
Opening Prayer/Smudging Ceremony
Elder Albert Dumont (of un-ceded Algonquin Territory) opened the meeting with a smudging ceremony and a teaching of a past event in his life involving the gathering of cedar branches by the women ofManiwaki.
1. CALL TO ORDER
Stephanie Penwarden called the meeting to order at 9:08 a.m.
2. INTRODUCTIONS
Stephanie Penwarden thanked everyone for coming out to the AAC’s Annual General Assembly (AGM) on this 3 day of March 2012. Stephanie informed the group that she would be chairing until the election of the new executive was completed.
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

That the agenda be adopted as presented and amended.
4. ELECTIONS OF NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The results of the election are as follows:
Chair: Sister Viola Thomas – Term of __ year
Secretary: Sister Marie-Louise Larocque – Term of __ year
Treasurer: Sister Toni Mathews – Term of __ year
NCRC Representative: Brother Tony Nicolas – Term of __ year
At the conclusion of the elections and the swearing in, of the new officers, Stephanie turned the chair over to Sister Viola Thomas.
5. SPECIAL THANKS TO SISTER MARIA FITZPATRICK AND TO BROTHER JOHN SULLIVAN
Sister Maria Fitzpatrick and Brother John Sullivan were presented with gifts in a way of thanking the both of them for their support.

Chair’s Report
Sister Charlotte Jacobs presented for Brother Edward Martin, the highlights were:
- Sister’s in Spirit
- National Aboriginal People’s Conference held in Yellowknife and during the delegations time at this conference took part in a TAKE BACK THE NIGHT WALK for murdered and missing women.
- Labour Day Parade
- Fight Back campaign
- First time fund raising and collecting signatures
- Human Rights School (1st week of December)
- Home of Compassion – Christmas Dinner (1st week of December)
- Sharon McGiver case
- PSAC sponsored 4 buses from 4 different schools to add their poems on the Hill for Shanon’s Dream
Treasurer’s Report
Sister Toni Mathews presented, the highlights were:
- balance going forward $629.08
- Funding from PSAC split for a 2 year period is $1,500.00.
- Funds still to be taken out is January meeting expenses and this AGM expenses and 1 taxi fare.
- Budget for the upcoming year $1863.23
Charlotte’s Report
The highlights were:
- Project of Heart
- Media course in Port Elgin – May 20, 2011
Sister Viola Thomas asked for a motion to accept the reports and thanked the old executive for their hard work and dedication.

10. WFA MODULE WITH GUEST SPEAKER ALLISON PILON
The highlights were:
- Work Force Adjustment
- Work Force Equity and Human Rights
- Repeal of the long form censes
- Cuts to the Federal Public Service, specifically to Aboriginal Community
Discussions took place on what PASC is doing about this.
An ACTION ITEM was created from these discussions.
Brother Tony Nicolas moves that we recommend that NAPS executive or President meet with the President of the Treasury Board to present the current deficiency regarding employment equity and work force adjustment processes as it relates to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit and further that they target all of the elected indigenous members of Parliament.
Seconded by Glenda Eagle
Motion carried.
12. ROUND TABLE– Everyone said a few words and thanks were given to our Elder.
13. NEXT MEETING – Our next regular meeting will be March 28, 2012 at the Ottawa Regional Office.
